Walking to The Royal Oak

Walking through the barley fields to the picturesque village of Bishopstone

Staying at Botswicky offers a variety of different walking, hiking and cycling opportunities; being situated in the countryside and close to The Ridgeway means with some decent shoes or boots sights such as the Uffington White Horse are within easy reach.

Very close to the site is our Partner’s Pub: The Royal Oak (menu here)

Follow the route from the top left hand corner, along the way-marked fields, pony paddocks and over chalk streams until you reach the church in Bishopstone.

Here’s Vidar from Nordic Glamping walking the route successfully to the pub; it takes around 20 minutes from Botswicky. A torch is useful for the return walk from the pub.

The Royal Oak is open for food and drinks 7 days a week and always full of friendly faces enjoying delicious food in the beautiful gardens. It is a popular pub so if you’d like to eat there on busy days or weekends it is always good to book a table ahead of time (mention you are staying on the glamping site and the patrons will do their very best to sort you out a table).

On summer weekends there is often live music and sometimes talks. Take a look at the pub website or more on Helen’s passions and projects here.

Summer is here

Summer has finally arrived to our beautiful site at Botswicky. We have been busy building a gorgeous new kitchen and shower block for the site.

The yurts are up and are looking very cosy (hygge and koselig) and the meadow has been mown to include pathways to each structure.

We were treated to some lovely sunshine for the summer solstice and we were able to make the most of the longest way working until the sun set in the west.

Here’s the shower and composting toilet block arriving on-site

It is really nice to experiment with different furnishings and configurations inside the yurts.

Sunny days are here!

At last! The sun is shining and things are drying out.

We are getting a new yurt ready and re-waterproofing canvases for our existing structures.

Spring is here at last and we are looking forward to our test weekend.

Waiting for the ground to dry

Progress is happening but it is quite slow as we are still waiting for the site at Botswicky to dry out a little bit more.

It has given us a bit more time to work on the website and gathering lots of useless materials and assorted bits and bobs for each yurt to take on it’s own personality.

Really excited about what this summer is going to bring us…

A new adventure begins…

New beginnings

So here we are! Nordic Glamping is going big and teaming up with the amazing folks at Helen Browning’s Organic to build a new yurt based glamping site. The site is called Botwicky and is simply the most beautiful little corner of sunny (hopefully!) English Countryside. There is a small woodland with a bird hide for spotting feathered friends, a stream and an adjoining picnic area.

In only a few short weeks we will be running our test weekend and there is a LOT to do before then.

We will check back in again soon but in the mean time it’s time to get the wellies on and get cracking!
